Veterans Day
Veterans Day is an official United States holiday which honors people who have served in armed service also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.)
Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.[1]

Happy Halloween!
Halloween falling on a Friday night this year may mean even more trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. Each year Lochmeade has a great number of children come through our community seeking candy treats. Halloween is always an exciting time in our community. It will be fun to see whether the children dress to scare, be cute, or imitate their current pop culture idol.
The town of Atoka is also hosting Safe Night Out on October 31, 2014 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Safe Night out will be held at Nancy Lane Park.
If you happen to be out driving in the Lochmeade neighborhood, please be safe and alert because some of these children will be so excited they will probably forget that they are going up and down streets that have cars traveling on them. We want the children to have a great time on Halloween.
